ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., March 29, 2022 — The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller will hold its annual Operation Green Light driver license reinstatement event April 4-8.
“Operation Green Light is an opportunity for members of our community to pay their delinquent court obligations and traffic tickets, save money on collection agency surcharges and potentially get back on the road,” said Clerk of Courts and Comptroller Brandon J. Patty. “We hope residents take advantage of this program, especially in a county as large as St Johns where having a license is essentially required to work, live and play.”
Operation Green Light is a statewide initiative sponsored by Florida’s clerks and comptrollers.
During Operation Green Light, individuals with outstanding traffic tickets and court fines in St. Johns County can pay their overdue court obligations that have been sent to a debt collection agency, and potentially save between 25–40 percent of the collection agency surcharge. Payment must be made in full to qualify for the savings.
The collections surcharge is only waived through participation in Operation Green Light, April 4–8. Under Florida law, late fees cannot be waived.
An individual whose case has not been sent to a collection agency may be eligible for a payment plan and reinstatement of their suspended driver license if all requirements are met. Statutory fees and late charges are applicable, and additional fees may be required for reinstatement with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Last year, 184 cases were paid in full in St. Johns County’s week-long program.
Operation Green Light will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. Johns County Courthouse (Richard O. Watson Judicial Center), 4010 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine. In addition to in-person payment at the courthouse, payment can be made online by visiting https://stjohnsclerk.com/courts/ncourt-online-payment/ or by phone by calling 855-796-5764.
