Toni Witherspoon has been part of the Clerk’s Office for 25 years. A quarter of a century. That is a milestone worth celebrating.

She started in the records room. Then she moved to the Family Division. Today, she works in the Civil Division, where she has spent most of her career.

In the early days, work was all about divorces and custody cases. Today, she manages the flow of information that keeps civil cases moving forward. Pulling files from one system into another, preparing summons, and making sure the judiciary has what it needs. She tracks and organizes it all in Benchmark so that everything is ready when her fellow Clerks head into court.

“It’s steady,” she says with a smile. “Not too busy. Just steady. I look forward to it every day.”

A Team That Feels Like Family

For Toni, the best part of the job is the people.

“We work together as a team, as a family,” she explains. “If I don’t understand something, I can ask my coworkers. If someone has a heavy load, we all pitch in. We laugh. We talk. We get along.”

That teamwork makes the Office feel like home. Even on tough days, there is always support.

Strong Leadership and Clear Communication

Toni also appreciates the leadership in her Division. She praises her supervisor, Jasmine, and her Director, Christina.

“They pitch in. They talk with us. If I don’t understand something, Jasmine looks it up right away and helps me,” Toni says. “There’s no hiding things. We always know what’s going on.”

She also values Clerk Patty’s openness during staff meetings and listening sessions. “He’s straightforward. He keeps us informed,” she says. “Not every job does that.”

Life Beyond the Office

Toni lives in Palm Coast, close to her family. She has two grandsons and five great-grandchildren. Family is everything to her. Summers often mean hosting her grandson from Miami.

Church is important to her, too. Her husband is a bishop, and together they lead services on Zoom for New Rock of Hope Ministry. They also visit other churches and enjoy staying connected with their local community.

Looking Ahead to Retirement

After 25 years of service, retirement is on the horizon and Toni is ready.

Her plan is simple. “Sit home and do nothing,” she laughs. Of course, she also hopes to travel again with her husband, something they used to do often before their children’s school schedules kept them closer to home.

One thing is certain. She is not opening a daycare. “When people retire, that means retire,” she says firmly. “I want to enjoy my life.”

And she will. With good health, a loving family, and countless memories from her years of service at the Clerk’s Office.
