Gabrielle joined the clerk’s Office in August 2024. It was her first government job. It was also a big shift from the world she came from.
Before joining the Clerk’s Office, she worked on Medicaid and Medicare audits for a private company. Before that, she lived an entirely different life in biotechnology, managing lab tests in an antiviral research facility in Utah. She led a team and ran experiments, but it wasn’t the career fit she was looking for.
She wanted growth. She wanted structure. She wanted a field that matched how her mind works.
Following the Numbers
Her family helped spark the change. Her grandmother was a longtime accountant. Her uncle is a CFO. Other relatives also worked with numbers. She started to consider the auditing field. “It felt like the right fit,” she says. She loved math, organization and bringing order to data. She even loved Excel. It all pointed in the same direction.
When she shifted her career, she eventually joined the Office of Inspector General (OIG) here at the Clerk’s Office. And she has loved it since day one.
A Team That Works Together
Inside the OIG, teamwork drives everything. Each auditor brings different strengths to the table. One may understand guardianships; another may know department audits. Together, they share knowledge, solve problems, and support each other to build a stronger division.
Gabrielle especially enjoys the creativity. “Many of our audits start from scratch,” she says. Building new work sheets each time, new formulas, and new analyses is a challenge she’s accepted. “It’s satisfying to watch the plan come together.”
Life in the Office
Gabrielle enjoys the Clerk’s Office as a whole, and being part of one unified team, producing work we can all be proud of. She also likes connecting with the Civil division over guardianship cases and learning how pieces of the court system link together.
Her new favorite Office tradition is Spirit Week, something that encouraged so many people to get involved and have fun. The in-service volunteer day made her feel connected outside the office walls, too.
Life in Florida has been an adventure of its own for Gabrielle. The summers are intense with the humidity, and she often misses snow in the winter. But her family is still a drive away in Pennsylvania. She drives up often with her dogs to enjoy the cold, knowing she’ll come right back to the Florida sunshine.
Around St. Johns County, she enjoys spending time on the beach. Evening walks are her favorite, and her dogs love it too. Now that the weather is getting cooler, she says she wants to explore more of what St. Johns County has to offer.
Gabrielle’s story is one of reinvention. She moved across state lines and pivoted careers, discovering a field that fits her strengths and personality at a workplace she enjoys.
It all adds up to a life that feels right.
