ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., January 26, 2026 — The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office is thrilled to announce Saints in Public Service, a semester-long internship program in partnership with Flagler College that provides hands-on experience for college students interested in public service, law, criminology, and public affairs.

“Saints in Public Service connects classroom learning with real-world local government experience,” said Clerk and Comptroller Brandon J. Patty. “Through our partnership with Flagler College, we’re helping prepare St. Johns County’s next generation of public-sector leaders.”

The program will place three Flagler College students in the Criminal, Civil, and Public Affairs divisions, which includes our Teen Court Program, during the January–April semester. Each intern will be assigned to a single division, where they will gain project-based experience and exposure to court operations and local government services.

“We are proud to partner with the Clerk’s Office to create pathways for students to serve their community while gaining professional experience,” said Beth Sweeny, Director of External and Government Relations at Flagler College and Mayor of the City of St. Augustine Beach. “Programs like Saints in Public Service strengthen the connection between education and civic engagement.”

Students will receive mentorship from division supervisors and gain direct experience working on meaningful projects that support the Clerk’s Office, and the residents of St. Johns County. Participants will develop skills applicable to careers in public service, law, administration, information technology, or communications. Upon completion of the program, students will receive recognition for their contributions, including opportunities for portfolio-building and documentation of their professional experience.

In addition to division-specific work, interns will have opportunities to learn about other County offices and partner agencies, providing broader insight into how local government operates.
