ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., November 4, 2024 — The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s office invites residents to attend the upcoming Family Law Workshop, offered in partnership with St. Johns County Legal Aid and the Law Office of Nancy Harrison. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 12 PM to 1 PM, at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center.
“Navigating the judicial system is tough,” said John Rundgren, Clerk Designee. “While we can’t give legal advice, our ongoing partnership with a family law attorney in hosting this workshop ensures that unrepresented parties receive the guidance they need before filing pleadings.”
“Child custody cases can be challenging, especially when determining what a judge believes is in a child’s best interest, particularly in extenuating circumstances,” said Attorney Nancy Harrison. “Those circumstances may include substance abuse, domestic violence, or alienation behavior. I hope to provide important legal information to make navigating a custody case easier if you are going to represent yourself.”
The event is free, open to the public, and accessible virtually for convenience. It aims to help residents understand complex family law issues such as divorce, child custody, asset division, and filing pleadings without an attorney. Our goal is to ensure everyone has access to the information needed to make informed decisions and benefit from legal counsel as they navigate the filing process.
Nancy C. Harrison, Esq., P.L., who specializes in family law, will volunteer her time through St. Johns County Legal Aid to offer general legal advice and discuss family law and domestic violence statutes.
