From Legos to IT: A Journey of Growth and Opportunity
Starting a new job can be a challenge, but for Will Session, it’s been a rewarding experience. In just over three months, Will has excelled in his role, enjoying both the people and the work. He says he appreciates the slower pace compared to his previous job, which allows him to dive deeper into problems and truly understand them.
Director of Technology, Chris Shilliday, says he’s received a lot of positive comments about Will’s performance as he tackles IT issues throughout the office. This feedback has given Will a stronger sense of fulfillment in his work.
Will says one of the most valuable aspects of his job is his team. Supportive and collaborative, his colleagues are always willing to help. Whether it’s answering quick questions or guiding him through a new process, the IT team has been there to make sure he has what he needs to succeed.
His journey into IT started at a young age. A love for puzzles and Legos developed into a fascination with technology. Growing up, he often helped his mother navigate tech issues, which naturally led him to pursue a career in IT.
After working at a shipyard to fund his education, he realized that hands-on labor wasn’t for him. He earned his degree in Computer Network Systems Technology from St. Johns River State College and has since obtained his A+ and Network+ certifications.
Now, he sees a bright future ahead. His current role has already opened doors for growth, and his team is eager to provide him with new opportunities.
Outside of work, Will enjoys gaming, working out, and spending time with friends. His journey from a childhood love of puzzles to a career in IT is proof that a strong work ethic, a supportive team, and a drive to keep learning can lead to success.
