ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., September 30, 2024 — The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s office invites residents to attend the upcoming Family Law Workshop offered in partnership with St. Johns County Legal Aid and the Law Office of Nancy Harrison. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 2, from 12 PM to 1 PM at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center.
“Our Family Law Workshop series offers residents an opportunity to learn about the legal process from a local attorney,” said John Rundgren, Clerk Designee. “Helping residents navigate complex family law issues, including petitions for injunctions for protection against domestic violence, is one of the essential functions of our office. This year, our office has processed 533 petitions, and it’s important to highlight this service as we observe Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.”
“Domestic violence and injunctions are very serious types of cases,” said Attorney Nancy Harrison. “There are resources to help you complete the forms required to file injunctions. Understanding the process and preparing for court are critical first steps.”
This free workshop is the third in a series designed to assist residents in understanding family law topics such as divorce, child custody, asset division, and self-representation. The goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions in family law cases.
Nancy C. Harrison, Esq., P.L., a family law expert, will volunteer through St. Johns County Legal Aid to provide general legal guidance on family law and domestic violence statutes. Residents can participate either in person or virtually, ask questions, and gain valuable insight on various family law matters from a local attorney.
