ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., May 22, 2024 — St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller, Brandon J. Patty, has been ordered by the Navy to support overseas contingency operations in the Middle East commencing on May 24, 2024.
“As I finalize preparations for this deployment, I appreciate the warm words of support from Governor DeSantis in granting my leave of absence,” said Clerk Patty. “Being called to serve overseas in uniform is an absolute honor and privilege. While I will be serving you in a different capacity for the time being, we will continue meeting our important mission, protecting taxpayer dollars, and seeking opportunities to make your interactions with us easier than before.”
Clerk Patty received official notification of his selection for an involuntary mobilization in December 2023. In accordance with Florida Statutes, he submitted a leave of absence request to Governor Ron DeSantis, who responded with support and approval. “Thank you for your service, both as a county officer and as a member of the Armed Services of the United States of America. I join your friends and family in looking forward to your safe return.”
Deployment orders are scheduled to run until the end of the year.
In his absence, Clerk Patty has appointed a designee to fulfill his responsibilities. The Clerk of Courts senior leadership team will continue to manage their portfolios and divisions while deputy clerks maintain their exceptional customer service across all court and county functions.
