Today, six children were adopted in St. Johns County just in time for the holidays. At a National Adoption Day Celebration hosted by the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office, Judge Christopher Ferebee presided over final hearings in adoption cases for children aged 1, 3, 5, 7, 13, and 17.
“The Clerk’s Office is honored to play a role in the adoption process,” said Clerk Designee John Rundgren. “We are celebrating with these local children today as they join their forever families.”
“There are over 120 kids in foster care in the Seventh Judicial Circuit,” said Melissa Walker, NE Regional Region Community Director for DCF. “Today, that number dropped by six.”
As Judge Ferebee signed the order finalizing each of the adoptions, he handed cake pops to the kids amid tears of joy from family members.
“I finally get to experience happiness and joy in a courtroom,” Judge Ferebee said about the adoption process.
